Foodie culture is all-pervasive in the San Francisco Bay Area and Wine Country—we are obessed with food, and many of us have, at some point or another, worked inside the industry. Same goes for one Napa-based artist and curator whose upcoming exhibit at Napa Valley Museum celebrates the culture of food through art.

"I have worked nearly every position in restaurants," says Nancy Willis, a Culinary Institute of America design instructor and Napa-based artist for 25 years. "These experiences have afforded me a unique perspective that has illuminated the perpetuating influence between the two industries and on my own work."

To showcase the relationship between food and art, Willis has curated a new exhibit, Nourish, opening on September 19 at the museum in Yountville. 

The collection will bring together more than 25 different artists whose creative works address themes related to food, dining, and service. These artists will include Deborah Oropallo, the Bay Area artist well known for her layered images of animals and food; the legendary Wayne Thiebaud; and Willis herself—a San Francisco Art Institute alum whose impressionistic works often focus on entertaining and the dinner table.

Additionally, Nourish will dispaly monotypes by Napa Valley chefs, as well as some drawings by Grant Achatz, chef/owner of Chicago's renowned restaurant Alinea.  //  Nourish, Sept. 19 through Nov. 29, napavalleymuseum.org
