Everyone’s got baggage. It’s whether he's packing baggage that’s up to the task at hand that counts.
And that’s exactly what new San Francisco men’s bag company Peasants and Travelers has for the fellas – and, really, anyone looking for weekenders, totes and carryalls with a healthily frills-free prepster-meets-urbanite attitude.
Launched this year by Jee Kim, an FIT grad whose fashion industry past includes a decade-long stint as a buyer and merchandiser for such companies as Neiman Marcus and Banana Republic, the 12-piece line ($29-$199) includes stuff-stashing solutions for everyday use like the streamlined leather-bottomed backpack and the crisp computer bag, as well as a sleek black doctor’s bag and hip overnighter in forest green and orange polyester with leather and nickel accents. While the exteriors are, for the most part, simple and unadorned, a subtle dose of buttoned-up style comes from the men’s shirt material used to line each bag.
As for the name behind the company, whose online store officially launched yesterday, it’s Kim’s homage to her extensive travels throughout Europe and Asia and the many people she encountered along the way.
