Enter, SF-based Britta Uniacke’s offbeat brooch bouquets. After falling head-over-heels for the non-prickly trend last year and recently walking down the aisle with her own head-turning creations, her Silver Stems business blossomed.

The local artist nixes real flowers for sparkly brooches, pins, necklaces, and earrings artfully arranged into custom keepsakes. You can send her your own sentimental jewels collected from friends and family (think: grandma’s brooches, grandpa’s military pins, your bestie’s locket). Or she’ll handcraft bouquets with thrift-store found antiques based on your colors or theme. You then select a handle ribbon tied French-knot style, and your jewel of the aisle is ready to go.

“We spend months selecting a venue, planning our theme, and choosing decorations that reflect our style – and all we’re left with are some amazing photos, memories, and extra decorations we’ll probably resell,” says Britta. “But a brooch bouquet lasts forever. It’s our hand-me-down to our daughters and grand-daughters.”

Bouquets range from $275 - $500 – a good bargain considering you’re creating a legacy of pinheads.
