Live-streaming and crowd-sourced cloud finale photos aside, we're betting that many a Bay Area LCD Soundystem fan is pretty bummed they're not going to be at the group's last-ever show in New York this weekend. If you're looking for a place to party down with fellow LCD fanatics, head over to Kimo's this Saturday to catch North American Scum, a new local LCD Soundsystem cover band, play a tribute.

Formed just a month ago when singer Roberto Baldwin was out shopping, got the idea and instantly created a twitter feed and a Facebook fan page on his iPhone before he'd even recruited musicians, the now five-member band has been busy learning eight of LCD Soundsystem's songs to play this Saturday. Baldwin, who is an online editor at Mac Life, says that after seven or so practices, they're "sounding pretty good." 

Since they don't have the arsenal of LCD's synths and effects, they picked some of the less intense songs (no "Pow Pow"), "stuff that we could distill down to its purest essence with guitars and still bring out the fun of the music." He's keeping the set-list a surprise until Saturday.

Baldwin says that North American Scum's more of an experiment in what it takes to start a band, learn a list of songs and get a gig in a finite time than a totally serious project. "Bands breaking up and playing their final show is great motivator," he says. That said, he promises the show will be a great time. "We're not trying to sound exactly like them, but if you're an LCD fan, you'll definitely recognize their songs. We want people to sing along. And if you don't recognize the songs, it'll still be a good party."
