For poster-philes, print lovers, and graphic design appreciators in general, Mission's Gravel & Gold shop is the place to head this Friday for a not-to be-missed poster show from Osborn/Woods. The rich history of the art duo stretches back to the early 1950's, when David Osborn and Charles Woods met during their graduate studies at UC Berkeley. They later moved to the small former mining town of Nevada City, and while creating the colorful lithographs and silk screens for which they've become known, also found time to open up a local museum and run the town's community radio station–no slackers, these two.
Starting a 6 this Friday 19 original prints spanning several decades of work will be on display. And even more delightfully, you'll have the chance to meet Charles Woods, the surviving half of the artistic team at the show. Inspiring art and a local treasure– sounds like the perfect way to start the weekend.
