Drivers, rejoice! Broken parking meters will remain free. According to SF Appeal, the SFMTA decided to keep the busted ones free for the meter's posted time limit, instead of changing the rules to one hour of free parking.
They say that of the tens of thousands of parking meters all over the city, there are between 300 and 500 broken meters out there on any given day, so keep your eyes peeled. As our trusty parking guru David LaBua astutely pointed out earlier this week, at broken meters with no time limit (as some of the new SFpark smart meters will), you can snake your car in there for 72 whole hours of free parking!
Happy hunting!
