Property Porn: Killers Bassist Mark Stoermer Looks to Flip Lower Haight Victorian at Zero Profit
19 October 2015
Despite rock 'n' roll's devil-may-care image, Killers bassist Mark Stoermer hasn't remotely trashed his property. Quite the contrary.
Once owned by San Francisco chief engineer Michael O’Shaughnessy (we have him to thank for Hetch Hetchy), this historic Victorian home has recently enjoyed a somewhat edgier caretaker. Stoermer, formerly the owner of an equally lavish Upper Haight Victorian, won this Page Street gem after an intense four-person bidding war. Now, he's putting his prize back on the market for the exact price he originally paid. Nice guy, eh?
His one-of-a-kind 1880s Lower Haight Victorian is pretty nice too. Loaded with personality, it has intricate wallpaper, period details and original chandeliers, stained glass windows, ornately carved fireplaces, and eleven-foot ceilings throughout—ideal for entertainers looking to make an impression. There's also a stately double parlor and recently remodeled kitchen.
Four bedrooms comprise the second floor. But the roof deck is where is where the party is: A New Orleans–style garden oasis, with a Spanish fountain and small cottage, feels just like the rocker haven you'd expect.
Time to dust off the record player and whip out those vinyls.
