So you didn't cofound Paypal. Oh well, at least you can live like Peter Thiel—that is, if you have a spare $9.25 million to buy his 10,000-square-foot Marina estate overlooking the Palace of Fine Arts.
As of 2014, the mac daddy of VCs, cofounder of Paypal, and Facebook board member was placed at #4 on Forbes' Midas List, with a personal worth of around $2.2 billion. So as you might imagine, Thiel's home, a four-story behemoth with our iconic Palace in its backyard, is pretty damn sweet.
Thiel purchased the home six years ago, no doubt charmed by the killer views from its upper level master suite, penthouse lounge, and rooftop deck where you can gawk at downtown San Francisco, the Bay and, of course, the GGB. A second gorgeous master suite hides out on a lower floor, with French doors that open onto a peaceful garden, perfect for our morning coffee, a relaxing read, or a few moments of meditation. All four floors are connected by an elevator as well as a stunning spiral staircase.
First constructed by Remick Architects and Master Builders, the five-bedroom home was reconfigured by Thiel in 2010 by designer and Decorati founder Shane Reilly to ensure all the modern comforts that the Silicon Valley elite could ever hope to want.
Now, if you'll excuse us, we'll be at home in our rent-controlled apartments with charming views of the neighbors' clotheslines.
