Scenes of the City: Take an Interiors Tour of SF With Architect Karen Curtiss
12 November 2015
We tapped architect Karen Curtiss, owner of Red Dot Studio, for a design-centric tour of her recent projects in San Francisco.
Red Dot Studio is a go-to for residential and small business clients who love Curtiss' for her deep understanding of materials, her talent for bringing in natural light, and perhpas most importantly, her creative ideas of maximizing SF's notoriously small spaces.
Curtiss, along with her team Alix Daguin and Alan Dougherty, aim to build environments that foster wellbeing. They choose projects that will enable them to enhance the way spaces are used, and always try to make room for how the space may change. In fact, it is understanding how the space is used that is central to their design process.
Curtiss was educated in Scotland and licensed while working at EHDD Architecture here in SF. Her background and experience raising children here in the U.S. has informed her healthy balance of form and function.
Check out her projects from around SF, and see more on the team's Instagram page and website.
