We can't wait to get our hands on Job & Boss' latest, the Oaxaca Woven Collection.
Brook Lane and Kirby McKenzie, the master mavens behind the West Oakland-based accessory line, say the limited-edition collection was inspired by a recent trip to Oaxaca, Mexico. Full of earthy colors, each bag features organic, hand-woven textiles by Alfredo Hernandez-Orozco.
At the core of Job & Boss remains their signature hand-dyed indigo bags and scarves.
That process begins with Lane, who meticulously dyes each piece of fabric. We're not talking some rolled-up ball with rubber bands–Lane uses shibori, an old-school Japanese dying technique with origami-like folding that allows her to achieve great patterns and a range of hues through an intricate dying process. (Check out In The Make's studio visistto see just how it's done.)
Once the cloth is properly treated, McKenzie works her magic on the sewing machine, and incorporating locally sourced leather.
The end result is a line of contemporary, one-of-a-king pieces that are perfect for the Bay Area man and woman. Here are our favorites:
