Conductor Giancarlo Guerrero brings out the technicolor glory of Ottorino Respighi’s two vivid, film score-like tone poems, Fountains of Rome and Pines of Rome, with contagious enthusiasm, a “clear and exacting beat, and a gift for shifting between ferocity and tenderness” (San Francisco Chronicle).

Guerrero’s rendition of Stravinsky’s ballet Petrushka is equally dramatic, placing the audience amid the hurly-burly of a Russian carnival where a trio of magical puppets comes to life.
