In spite of the recent Prop 8 decision, there's no better time than the present to tie the (white) knot.
Much more than a fashion statement, White Knots have been spotted all over the red carpet on the likes of Zooey Deschanel, John Malkovich, Anne Hathaway, John Waters, Padma Lakshmi, thanks to White Knot for Equality, an organization dedicated to increasing the visibility of marriage equality supporters.
SF-based denim giant Levi's has also joined in the White Knot movement by polishing off their all-white clad mannequins in SF, NYC, Chicago and LA with the ubiquitous ribbons. Last week the company also announced $25,000 grants to the San Francisco LGBT Community Center and the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR). We were lucky enough to catch up with Robert Hanson, President of Levi Strauss Americas, who said that he's "extremely proud of {Levi's} recent support of White Knot for Equality and all the important work that their organization is undertaking. I believe every citizen should and will have equal rights under law."
White Knots aren't limited to celebs and store fronts by any means. The symbolic ribbon can be found in 1,071 cities (and counting) around the world, so join the marriage equality movement this Pride month by tying one on and letting the world know that you think everyone should have the right to tie the knot.
