Happy New Year, South Bay! You may be deep into that New Year's Resolution juice cleanse (shutter), but 2015 is starting off with the kind of restaurant happenings that will have you reintroducing solids in no time. 

Let's start with the delicious elephant in the room: Manresa has risen from the ashes, phoenix-like, and is now accepting dinner reservations. David Kinch and team kicked things off in celebratory style with a special New Year's Eve dinner; now, they're settling in to business as usual with a $198 prix fixe menu, optional wine pairings, and seasonally-inflected, groundbreaking cuisine. Our warmest welcome back to Kinch and his crew; we're thrilled to have them fully back in action. 

Speaking of comebacks, beloved Palo Alto dim sum joint Cho's Mandarin is reopening in downtown Los Altos. The 35-year-old restaurant lost their California Avenue lease early last year and, despite much community outcry, closed in April. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for news of their new home and to plan your next dumpling binge accordingly. 

In the meantime, sate your cravings at Von's Chicken, now open in Sunnyvale. Von's specializes in two styles of Korean-style poultry: oven-baked and fried. Fried birds are available in two styles, crunchy or crispy, while oven-baked chicken comes in six different styles (including wine and green onion, soy sauce and black vinegar, and boneless sesame chicken). Don't forget to explore the sides selection, too, which includes kimchi fried rice, onion rings, mandoo (dumplings), and rice cakes. 

Pizzeria Delfina in Burlingame is at it again with a new installation of their farm dinner series — this four-course family-style meal will be celebrating "Winter in Veneto." The January 20 dinner is paying homage to Venetian cuisine, and includes dishes like Dungeness crab and radicchio risotto, veal shank with polenta Valsugana, and a selection of antipasti. Finally, take your meal pairings to the next level at the second annual "Beer vs. Wine Dinner" at the Half Moon Bay Brewing Companyon January 21. The four-course meal will feature pairings from both HMB Brewing and Alfaro Family Vineyards (yes, one of each with all four courses). Dishes feature local bounty, like a Dungeness crab cake salad and an artichoke soup, with a chocolate porter bread pudding for dessert, for good measure.
