Raise your hand if 2020 was a tough year for you. Keep your hand up if you'd like to live rent-free in Healdsburg and earn $10,000 a month. Keep it up if you've always dreamed of breaking into the wine industry.

Hand still up? Sonoma County's Murphy-Goode winery may have the perfect job for you.

The winery has launched a competition for a year-long "Really Goode Job" that includes all of the above plus a year's supply of wine (which works out to 30 cases) for applicants who submit a 30- to 90-second video describing why they would want to work with Murphy-Goode by the end of July.

The winner will start work in August 2021 by shadowing winemaker Dave Ready, Jr. tolearn the ins and outs of the Sonoma County wine harvest. The rest of the year will be shaped around the winner's ideal position as described in the application video.

"Every day will be different, depending on how the winner and the Murphy-Goode team develop the customized role," says Rick Tigner, the winery's president and CEO. "Our job is to help guide their path in the wine business, support their passions, and provide a platform to achieve their dream job."

Murphy-Goode winery, founded in 1985 by three friends around the concept of not taking life so seriously, has done this before. In 2009 they ran a job hunt with the same name, focused on finding someone who could create a strong social media presence for the business. More than 2,000 people applied.

"Back in 2009 when we first launched this campaign, the goal was to create a real job opportunity in the wine industry at a time of economic distress and high unemployment," says Tigner. "Today, the country faces a new set of challenges, and creating access to a viable career opportunity is more important than ever."
