Mid-afternoon style break with a side of sangria, anyone? We thought so. Desigual (which roughly translates as “It’s not the same,” in Spanish) celebrates the opening of its much-anticipated San Francisco store tomorrow in Union Square. Your challenge, should you choose to accept it: sneak over during the afternoon for sangria, tapas, tunes and discounts on the bold-hued apparel that has made the Barcelona-based fashion brand a hit throughout Europe.
This marks the seventh U.S. store opening for the company (pronounced “dizzy-gwol”), whose clothing and accessories for men, women and children stand out from other similarly-priced retailers, thanks to brightly-colored prints and unexpected silhouettes that boast a distinctly youthful, bohemian flair. Before coming to San Francisco, Desigual opened stores in New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Miami.
For spring, apparel ranges from floral print tops and day dress to appliquéd denim for women to crew necks and button downs with vibrant stripes and contrasting print panels for men.
During tomorrow’s opening event, you’ll also score 30 to 50 percent off last fall’s collection.
We can only hope the store takes its cues from its Manhattan outpost and throws a San Francisco undie party. Can you imagine?
Get in on the opening action tomorrow during the launch celebration from 12-6 p.m. at Desigual, 101 Powell St. (at Ellis), SF.
