Meet this year’s cast of tastemakers who are setting the tone for fashion in San Francisco.

In 2008, Jenny Chung, 32, answered the call of San Franciscans pining for a boutique that really got fashion. With the opening of her galley-sized store Acrimony, Chung, along with M.A.C. and Gimme Shoes, made Hayes Valley a shopping destination. She still remembers selling her first piece—an Operations trench coat—to a local editor. “We didn’t have the cash register set up yet,” she says. “Her receipt printed out the size of a postage stamp!” In 2011, Chung opened Acre/SF, a hipster’s oasis for clothing and housewares in North Beach. And this past April, she rounded out her mini empire with the Russian Hill jewelry boutique No. 3. For Chung, fashion is a mode of personal expression. “It’s fun to think about what to wear every morning,” she says. “I want to do that for the rest of my life.”

Inspiration:
French models off duty. The hair, the lankiness, the impeccable style—their ease about life is inspiring.

Fall musts:
Alexander Wang crop tops, and voluminous high-waisted skirts from Michael Kors and Christopher Kane.

Cheap thrill:
A 70-minute foot massage for $30 at Wonderfoot Health Center.

Favorite shop ever:
Visvim in Tokyo. The design and feeling of that store are so on point.

Soundtrack:
MS MR from Brooklyn are amazing live. Their music makes me want to dance!

The drink:
The Ward 8 at The Alembic is composed of my favorite liquor (whiskey) and balanced citrus. I drink it every time I’m there, which could easily be once a week.
