Superheroes, Stars, and Strange New Installations at SF's Art Galleries

Spring has sprung at San Francisco’s art galleries. Brian Gross Fine Art exhibits watercolor works in lovely pastels, while Scott Richards Contempory Art captures the plafyul nature of a new season with comic book heroes. Gallery Paule Anglim dazzles visitors with the magic of starlit skies and Ever Gold Gallery drags them back to earth with provacative photography and multimedia works.
Adam Parker Smith: Seriously
New York-based artist Adam Parker Smith inspires introspection with this collection by highlighting the freedom of choice. In the large photograph entitled The Absurd, Smith pushes that right to an extreme by depicting a moment between life and death.
Seriously runs from May 9 to June 7 at Ever Gold Gallery, 441 O'Farrell Street. The opening reception will be hosted on Friday, May 9 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.
Group Exhibition: Everybody Needs a Hero
If it's been a while since you thought of Spiderman, Wonder Woman, and Batman, then this show -- featuring comic books, action dolls, lunchboxes and paintings of your favorite heroes off-duty -- is sure to put a smile on your face. What's more is that it opens on #throwbackthursday.

Andrew Belschner: Water + Color
Artist, architect and interior designer Andrew Belschner created a decorative series using a soft palette of watercolors. “Water and color are an active combination when united with paper and gravity. I strive for a dance, and at its very best, the resultant work may be both stimulating and revealing,” Belschner said of his technique.
Water + Colorruns from May 3 to July 3 at Brian Gross Fine Art, 248 Utah Street. The opening reception will be hosted on Saturday, May 3 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Ala Ebtekar: Parallax
This exhibit features two new works by Ala Ebtekar: one, a large painting of night’s twinkling lights, and the other, a light-box featuring cosmic patterns atop a science fiction movie poster. The dual approach to the same concept reveals the depth of Ebtekar's creativity.
