Thanksgiving is now only 11 days away, which means that you should either be a) furiously collecting recipes (look for some from us later this week or b) furiously dialing for a Thankgiving day reservation. Our friends over at Chow have already done us the favor of compiling a list of some of the best places to tuck in to turkey; click here to see their list. Seasons at the Four Seasons will be serving up a smorgasbord of epic proportions ($110 for adults, $45 for kids) that will conclude with an amazing dessert buffet that, at press time, had 13 items, ranging from pecan pie and pumpkin cheesecake to sticky toffee pudding and chocolate soufflé.
One Market restaurant will also be hosting a feast, the centerpiece of which will be a free-range Willie Bird turkey with cornbread-sausage stuffing ($65 per person) alongside myriad other delights.
Should you be planning to cook a meal at home, I’d like to try to convince you to join chef Ryan Scott of Mission Beach Café in the days leading up the holiday. This year, with the help of volunteers and donations, he’s making 1,500 bag lunches, which will be delivered on Thanksgiving Day to shelters throughout the Bay Area. You could be one of the volunteers that makes this impressive feat happen: email thanksgivinglunch@gmail.com or call 209-613-3420 to become part of the crew.
