For over 20 years, GLAAD has celebrated outstanding representations of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in the media. The GLAAD Media Awards brings more than 5,000 attendees, 100 distinguished corporate partners and 200 national and international media outlets together for galas in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco.
The San Francisco event, which takes place on May 11 at the Hilton in Union Square, is going to be seriously star-studded, with appearances by Mel B. of the Spice Girls, Kyle Richards from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, star chefs Yigit Pura and Jen Biesty, Jinkx Monsoon (the newest winner of RuPaul's Drag Race), and many more. American Idol barnburner Adam Lambert and Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom will receive the prestigious Davidson/Valentini Award and the Golden Gate Award, respectively.
The GLAAD Media Awards is the largest and most visible event of its kind within the LGBT community. With more support from corporations and foundations than any other event in the LGBT market, the GLAAD Media Awards raise critical funds to support GLAAD’s work to bring the stories of LGBT people and issues to Americans in an effort to build support for full equality.
Each GLAAD Media Awards gala features an Awards Show with live entertainment, Private Celebrity Reception, VIP Cocktail Reception, Live & Silent Auction and After-Party. Guests include LGBT community members, straight allies, entertainment industry and corporate executives, diversity and marketing departments, celebrities, special GLAAD Media Awards honorees and nominees.
