The Science of Cocktails at the Exploratorium
WHAT: At the Exploratorium's seventh annual Science of Cocktails fundraiser, you'll learn the chemistry behind beer-brewing, including the science behind the distillation process, and maybe even find your favorite new vintage. Tickets to the event include an open bar, gourmet hors d'oeuvres, and special cocktail-related activities, demonstrations, and programs. All proceeds from Science of Cocktails go toward the Exploratorium's innovative educational programming.

Don't Fall for Fake News
WHAT: The Oakland Public Library is hosting a special interactive workshop where, in this age of "misinformation," you will find out how the library can guide you toward reputable sources and content and provide you with some critical tools to help you recognize fake news. There's no better time to figure out how we can determine what news is real or fake, and what facts are true or "alternative."

Art Show Tribute to the Films of Hayao Miyazaki
WHAT: Spoke Art is presenting a showcase of more than 50 artists from around the world celebrating the films of Japanese filmmaker and animator Hayao Miyazaki, whose highly acclaimed films include beloved characters such as Totoro and No Face. Each artist in the showcase has created unique works, including paintings, sculptures, and limited-edition prints, all inspired by Miyazaki's imaginative universe.

Indie Fest: Short Film Day
WHAT: The San Francisco Independent Film Festival continues this Saturday with a series of screenings at the Roxie Theater, including #LOL, which highlights comic and lighthearted films from U.S. and European storymakers. If you're interested in attending Saturday's short films as well as other films throughout the festival, you can opt to buy the IndiePass, good for all screenings and parties.

Vegan Super Bowl Party
WHAT: SoMa StrEat Food Park is hosting their third-annual vegan Super Bowl party and it's going to be bigger than ever, with plenty of beer, mimosas, football, and of course, vegan food from Curry Up Now, Southern Fried Vegan, and Gyros on Wheels. If you're trying to make it a day of drinking, you should consider purchasing a bottomless ticket, which will give you endless pours of six local craft brews.

Sting Plays the Masonic: 57th & 9th Tour
WHAT: How often do you get the chance to see Sting in concert? You definitely won't want to miss him this weekend at The Masonic as he promotes his new LP 57th and 9th. The tour kicked off February 1st in Vancouver and comes to a close March 14th at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom. Be sure to get tickets ASAP while they're still on sale!
