That's a typical day in the life of a San Francisco real estate agent, according to what you see on "Million Dollar Listing San Francisco," the must-see TV show which premiered on Bravo last week.
But off-screen, the business of real estate is a bit less theatrical and a whole lot of hard work as agents compete in a crowded market for the best listings. Few make it to the top.
We combed through the annual Real Trends ranking of the nation's top real estate agents (not including teams) to determine who made the most sales in San Francisco in the last year. Over $75 million in transactions is required to get on the list.
Here are the top eight residential agents in the City, who together sold over $830 million worth of homes and condos!
1. Nina Hatvany of Pacific Union Real Estate sold this Pacific Heights mansion for $16,760,000 last month. Sales like that are what made her San Francisco's number one real estate agent last year, with $187,150,500 in sales.
2. Gregg Lynn of Sotheby's International Realty is selling this penthouse at Lumina for $49,000,000. Last year, his sales totaled $111,792,758.49.
3. Barbara Callan sold this Pacific Heights home for $9,500,000 last year, contributing to the McGuire Real Estate agent's impressive total of $97,133,900.
4. Robert Callan, also of McGuire Real Estate, is selling a St. Francis Wood home for $3,198,000. His total sales were $95,233,900.
5.David Bellings of Coldwell Banker currently has a Pacific Heights mansion on the market for $10,000,000. His total sales last year amounted to $92,252,500.
6. Joel Goodrich is now selling this Pacific Heights mansion for $12,500,000. Last year the Coldwel Banker Previews International agent sold $88,865,357 in real estate.
7. Janet Schindler is offering this Cow Hollow home for $9,600,000. The Sotheby's International Realty agent sold $81,581,250 in real estate last year.
8. Eric Altree of Pacific Union Real Estate sold this NOPA Victorian for $4,995,000, contributing to his total of $76,930,792 of sales for the year.
With more than 4,000 licensed real estate agents in San Francisco and the Northern Peninsula, competition for business is fierce. For those who didn't make the cut, better luck next year!
