This is Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show Crew Perform in Oakland
21 April 2009
Get excited for UNWIGGED & UNPLUGGED, going down tomorrow at The Paramount Theater in Oakland. Christopher Guest, Michael McKean & Harry Shearer of This is Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind and the excellent sleeper For Your Consideration will perform hits from the films' original soundtracks.
Shearer (Mr. Burns on the Simpsons) and McKean (Lenny of Lenny and Squiggy) performed in many of the post-Spinal mocumentaries. All three of the original Spinal Tap crew reconvened in A Mighty Wind, the moc doc about folk rock. The Unwigged concert will feature songs from this film too, including (we can only hope) the band’s “only hit,” “Old Joe's Place", with the trenchant lyric: "there's a puppy in the parlor and a skillet on the stove / and a smelly old blanket that a Navajo wove."
