Family-owned Louis' Restaurant reopens after a complete renovation and is taking menu suggestions on their Facebook page. This Sutro Heights landmark has been serving good-eats for the past 74 years and really rallied up thousands of San Franciscans when the National Park Service nearly ended the restaurant's lease back in February. 902 Point Lobos Ave.

Things are really sizzling up at the SF Chefs 2011 as chefs Elizabeth Falkner of Citizen Cake and Orson and Chris Consentino of Incanto team up against Russell Jackson of Lafitte and Atelier Crenn's Dominique Crenn for best dish using Illy coffee and a surprise market basket from the Ferry Plaza Farmer's Market. The winning duo will receive $20,000 to donate to the charity of their choice, while the runners-up will receive $5,000 to donate. Azalina's and La Cocina have joined forces with Macy's Union Square's Cellar Kitchen for a hands-on Malaysian cooking class 2-4 p.m. It's $20 and supports La Cocina. 170 O'Farrell St (at Powell)
Omnivore Books is hosting a free fishy book reading 3-4 p.m. of The Fishmonger's Apprentice: The Expert's Guide to Selecting, Preparing, and Cooking a World of Seafood, Taught by the Masters by Aliza Green. Pastry chef Belinda Leong's sweet treats will pop up at Flour + Water. After traveling around France, Spain, Denmark, and Belgium, will present her kouign-aman (a French butter and caramelized sugar layered pastry), bostock (twice baked, soaked brioche with almond frangipane and passionfruit), and 10-hour-apple and blueberry tart with almond crumble. 2401 Harrison St (at 20th)
