Preservation Hall West (at 777 Valencia), the West Coast home of New Orleans' famed Preservation Hall Jazz Band, announced an opening weekend of shows scheduled to go down the weekend of October 4th. Oakland native and rapper Kreayshawn finally releases her debut album–a year after her viral hit "Gucci Gucci"–and while no one is jumping for joy, it's getting called a bunch of "rap verses so fumbly that practically anyone could rewrite them and make them better," while Kreay's success itself is "somewhere between William Hung and Jesse Camp and the 8th Street Kidz."
