"Masters of Venice" Masked Ball
To celebrate the closing days of "Masters of Venice" at the de Young, ArtPoint is hosting an extravagant masquerade ball. Come cloaked in black tie and your most provocative Venetian mask, and retire your disguise just long enough to take in the exhibit.

SF Symphony Chinese New Year Concert
Ring in the year of the dragon with this community event at the Davies Symphony Hall. A reception kicks off the festivities with lion dancing, Chinese calligraphy, food stations, and tea bars. The late afternoon concert highlights Chinese musicians in a show of both traditional Chinese and Western works. And then, if you're so inspired, add the CNY Imperial Dinner to your ticket, and enjoy a lavish feast under the grand Rotunda at City Hall.
When: Reception at 3 p.m. followed by concert at 4 p.m. and grand imperial dinner at 6 p.m., Sat. 2/11

SF Beer Week and Hot Glass, Cold Beer
Friday kicks off Beer Week, and there's a lot to drink to. Check out the jam-packed schedule of events here, and pick your poison. Unrelated to Beer Week but still involving the cold, refreshing beverage is Public Glass' Saturday mixer. For a $25 donation, you'll get a handblown glass filled with beer (or wine or soda) that you can take home at the end of the night. Check out glass-blowing demos and see work by featured artist TJ Ossola. 100 percent of proceeds benefit Public Glass. (Glasses available while supplies last.)

Bones: 20th Street Corridor Crawl
Start your weekend off strong with a Mission stroll on Friday night. Co-organized by a list of who's who (Meatpaper, The Thing Quarterly, Southern Exposure, Rebar, Salumeria, Kadist SF, and 500 Capp Street Foundation), this event—inspired by Meatpaper's issue 16—explores all things related to bones: wishbones, marrow, talismans, evolution, etc.

"Animal Attraction"
For most species, sex is a risky proposition. Right in time for Valentine's Day, Cal Academy gets busy with "Animal Attraction," a new ongoing exhibit that offers a bit of sex education on the unusual and varied mating rituals of nonhuman creatures. This week's nightlife event gives guests a sneak peek at the show while offering everything from aphrodisiac cocktail tours to a lecture on the science of orgasm (listen closely, boys!).
