Noise Pop
SF's favorite indie music festival celebrates its 20th year with another bang-up lineup. Noise Pop is bringing back the old (Built to Spill, Bob Mould, and Cursive) and ushering in the new (Release the Sunbird, Shannon and the Clams, and The She's) for the big anniversary. Don't miss headliners The Flaming Lips on Tues. 2/21 and NP's anniversary show on Wed. 2/22.

Fat Tuesday Festivities

Bookfest
This week, the Jewish Community Center gives you the chance to rub elbows with authors, artists, and entertainers. Cult followers can catch quirky writer, performer, and filmmaker Miranda July on Feb. 25 and Bookfest Sunday's lineup with Joyce Carol Oates, poet laureate Philip Levine, and hot young author Adam Levin (he's recently wrapped the much-anticipated Hot Pink short story collection) is not to be missed.

Bill T. Jones Story/Time
Tony Award-winning choreographer Bill T. Jones (of Fela!) brings Story/Time to Cal Performances for its West Coast premiere. Jones is known for edgy, boundary crossing performances and this is no exception. Here, he narrates short stories from his life while his company of dancers flits gracefully around him to a soundtrack of original music and film.

Ron Garrigues "From Beginning to End"
See 33 years of art by local artist Ron Garrigues who made his groundbreaking debut at the Legion of Honor 50 years ago. The exhibit chronicles his creative career with 33 bronze sculptures, 33 etchings on clayboard, and 33 sumi ink paintings mounted on silk.
