If Oakland had an anthem, it would sound like the blend of eclectic grooves this Saturday in the Uptown District. Over 20 acts, including the Coup, Trill Team 6, Religious Girls, Sweater Funk, Suns of Temple, Kev Choice Ensemble and New Diplomat, will be performing live throughout the day. Come be part of a major revolution glorifying the best of local indie rock, electronic, and hip hop. There’ll also be food, spirits, and an after-party hosted by The People at the New Parish. SF Latino Film Festival 2013 – Viewing of 7 Boxes (7 Cajas) & XINGU
After you take off your dance shoes and recover from the previous night, consider relaxing in front of the big screen for awhile. One of Berkeley’s longtime cultural gems, La Pena, will present two films that are features of this year’s SF Latino Film Festival. 7 Boxed (7 Cajas) is a suspenseful story about a teenage boy in Paraguay who gets more than he bargained after finding 7 mysterious boxes. Xingu is also playing and follows the journey of 3 brothers in central Brazil and their will to protect the lives of the Xingu Indians. Sunday 9/22, 5 p.m. Buy tickets here.
2013 Orinda Classic Car Show & Movie Night
Expect some real ‘round-the-way fun at Orinda’s Classic Car Show and Movie Night as well. Over 200 American and European vehicles from the 1920’s through the 1960’s will be available on display. In addition, Orinda Theatre will host two viewings of Gone in 60 Seconds on Sunday evening. Car Show - Saturday 9/21 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Free.
