"The Bay Area has such a rich comedy and music scene -- in my eyes, it just had to happen" explains Shawn Robbins, the man behind San Francisco's indie comic and music hybrid night Snob Theater. Inspired by similar events in New York and Los Angeles, Snob Theater brings together a varied cast of local musicians and comedians each month for an intimate evening of laughs and live music at The Dark Room. An aspiring musician and comedian himself, the marriage between stand-up and indie-rock was all too logical for Shawn. "This year's Sasquatch Festival prominently features comedians Patton Oswalt, Brent Weinback and Mosh Kasher and Bonaroo has Aziz Ansari, Jeffery Ross, Bo Burnham and Conan O’Brien. It is clear that indie fans enjoy stand-up, and it just seemed like it was time to bridge the two communities here in the city," an enthuististic Robbins tells 7x7. "The response to our night has been great so far, and we have some amazing stuff lined up for our next few events."
This month's show boasts an impressive lineup of local comics and musicians, including Oakland's rising stars Grand Lake and that oh-so-hilarious Kevin Munroe and Brendan Lynch. While advance sales have ended, a limited number of tickets will be available at the door for $10 -- we strongly encourage you to arrive early, as the event is expected to reach capacity.
