1. Tom Waits meets Eminem (with a twist of Forrest Gump—trust us, it’s awesome) in Tim Fite’s live show. Adam Green of the Moldy Peaches joins the talented Brooklynite for a can’t miss performance tonight at the Rickshaw Stop. Tuesday, May 20.

2. In addition to his show at the de Young, Tucker Nichols takes center stage at Lincart Gallery with a solo show of the work of the Bay Area artist (and Hot 20 alum), showcasing a site-specific wall drawing, a window installation, and a selection of his note-to-self drawings. Through June 21.

3. Songwriter Will Oldham is in conversation with photographer David Maisel for “Apocalyptic Sublime” at Headlands Center for the Arts. Thursday, May 22.

4. Oxford, England buzz band the Foals bring their brand of post-punk indie rock to 330 Ritch. Thursday, May 22.

6. Bay area alums and husband and wife indie rock outfit Mates of State stop in to greet old friends, celebrate their new parenthood and promote their new album Re-Arrange Us at Slim’s. Thursday, May 22.

7. Southern Exposure presents “Hopeless and Otherwise,” opening May 23 (Through July 3), an exhibition that seeks to define American identity via works by artists including Siemon Allen, April Banks, Mary Walling Blackburn and the Visible Collective. Friday, May 23.
