1.  White Rabbits at Bottom of the Hill
This Brooklyn-by-way-of-Missouri six piece may label themselves as “honkey-tonk calypso,” a genre description that is both deceiving and slightly frightening, but with their dual-drummer action and eclectic indie rock, White Rabbits are not to be missed. Catch them when they perform songs off their debut Fort Nightly on Tuesday, May 27.

2.  The Anderson Project at Zellerbach Hall
Loosely inspired by two classic Hans Christian Anderson tales, writer and director Robert Lapage weaves a mesmerizing story in this modern theater piece, which plays through Sunday, June 1.

3.  Day is Done at YBCA
Come check out LA-based artist Mike Kelley’s abstract music video Day is Done, an artistic meditation on high school-ish subcultures on Thursday, May 29.

4.  The Fiery Furnaces at Great American Music Hall on Thursday, May 29
Catch this Brooklyn-based brother and sister duo, whose hard to pin-down whimsical pop will turn a typical foggy Thursday night into a quirky dance party.

5.  Sex and the City: the Movie premiers today
Everyone’s favorite guilty pleasure comes to the big screen this Friday, May 30. Strap on your four-inch Manolos, grab your Fendi Baguette and join SATC-obsessed fans at this highly-anticipate premier.

6.  R.E.M. at the Greek Theatre
Kick off your summer—if you want to call it that—with the comeback concert of the year. Legendary art-rockers R.E.M, who’s latest offering Accelerate is a return to their signature intelligent pop sound, will heat up the Greek Theatre on Saturday, May 31. Don’t hesitate; tickets are moving fast!

7.  The Art Institute of California’s Second Annual Animation Festival
Do you miss watching cartoons on Saturday mornings? Why not check out the Art Institute's Second Annual Animation Festival at Herbst Theatre on Friday, May 30. The free and open to the public event features animation from students, faculty and alumni.
