Welcome to "Transported", our weekly series about getting places in San Francisco, whether you take the bus or the BART, bike or drive. Come here to find the skinny on secret parking spots, the new bike lanes and how to get across town on Muni without losing your mind.
Love bikes? Yeah you do. Show your love loud and proud along with over 1,000 other bike enthusiasts of all shapes and sizes at the SF Bike Coalition's annual fundraiser and member party, Winterfest 2010 this Sunday, December 5th at SOMArts Gallery. You'll get to raise a bottomless ice cold pint glass of New Belgium beer to one of the most precious bicycle resources and advocates in the city.
And it's not just any old fundraiser where people glide around in fancy clothes and sip champagne; you can really get your hands dirty and screenprint t-shirts, and make your own spoke cards and custom bike pins so that no one on this planet could possibly mistake you for a car driver. If you drop $20, you'll get a commemorative Winterfest 2010 pint glass which they won't let get dry for the entire night.
There will be local food carts (details on which still unknown), an art auction and an amazing silent auction with over 200 items up for grabs, from a chance to build your own custom bag at the Rickshaw Bag studios, a romantic bike-centric, wine-soaked getaway in Healdsburg and more. Top it all off with dancing to local DJs and a photobooth with props for you to get crazy in, and you've got one heck of a Sunday night.
For SF Bike Coalition members, admission is only $15. For non-members, it's $40, which also gets you a one-year membership to all the organization's cool happenings. Festivities start at 6 pm and go till 10:30 pm. Bike lovers unite!
