Who says tagging is for youngsters?
A group of seniors, ranging in age from 65 to 96 years old, just completed a graffiti mural at the Institute on Aging in the Inner Richmond. Under the direction of ManOne, a well-known graffiti artist from Los Angeles, San Francisco's oldest residents donned gloves and masks to spray paint a colorful mural with the words "One Love."
"We're trying to use art to revitalize and reenergize our citizens," said Scott Power, founder and curatorial director of Crewest Studio, who originally had the idea to introduce seniors to graffiti art.
Despite the cold weather, residents of the Institute came out strong to make their mark on the San Francisco landscape. In addition to the mural, the project also included history lessons on hip-hop culture, spoken word poetry jams, and even walking tours of San Francisco's most famous murals.
