Wedding Inspiration: A Hint of the 1920s in Placerville
06 December 2018
Naturally she said yes, and the lovebirds planned a vintage-style wedding that would meld together rustic elements with a touch of glamour.
The pair landed on Placerville's Eden Vale Inn, where a serene pond complete with a rowboat, a cobblestone patio, grape arbor, and rolling hills made for an utterly romantic backdrop. To add some flavor of the 1920s, the couple decorated with vintage furniture; the bridesmaids wore beaded frocks, and the groomsmen donned three-piece suits. The bride herself was adorned in cascading lace.
The florals were designed with pops of dusty pink, deep burgundy, and lush cream, accompanied by draping vines, eucalyptus, and gold ribbons; the wood arbor under which they were married was crowned in copious blooms.
"Our first look was the most special part for us," says Kristy, who had debated on whether to incorporate this non-traditional aspect. "We are so glad we did," she says, remembering how Michael had surprised her with a bottle of wine and two specially engraved glasses to calm her nerves before the ceremony.
Not that there was reason to be nervous. The couples' loved ones were relaxed in tufted chairs during cocktail hour and at the reception, immersed in twinkle lights with a quaint barn in the distance. They had a cigar bar for the men to enjoy in true '20's form, and a fire pit by the lake to get cozy. When guests got tired of dancing, there was corn hole!
