After a nine-month long-distance courtship, Valerde packed up her life and moved to Sydney. Two years later, they moved as a couple back to the Bay Area. During a detour in New Zealand along the way, while traveling through a lavender farm in a camper van, Roest proposed. Talk about #vanlifegoals.
They both knew they wanted an industrial-chic flair for their big day, and Bluxome Street Winery in San Francisco offered the ideal setting, and also accommodated their love of wine.
Focusing on neutral tones, they added softness to the venue's concrete floors and glass-encased barrels. Warm tones radiated from the space with glass pendants overhead, wood chairs, and gilded table settings. Adorning the arch was a single row of hanging eucalyptus and a collection of wreaths on the wall. Rose petals lined the aisle, while other florals were kept simple and classic with eucalyptus runners. Just a hint of blush came out in bouquets, and the groom's bowtie and pocket square to match the sunny tone of the decor.
Keeping the ceremony and reception all in the same room allowed for guests to get comfortable, and remain in the same energy, while also being able to repurpose items and decor. They ate, danced, and cried—and as half the guests were from Australia played Aussie drinking games.
