Win tickets to ring in the New Year with SFJAZZ at a pulse-pounding night of salsa celebration – hang out in a seat or take the dance floor! Either way, legendary percussionist Pete Escovedo and his Latin band will have you up and grooving. A veteran who's worked with Santana, Tito Puente, Herbie Hancock and countless others, Escovedo is the “first father” of Latin jazz, having reared a brood of acclaimed musicians including Sheila E. Celebrate the occasion with a champagne toast and balloon drop at midnight.
Also, don’t miss other holiday shows at the new SFJAZZ Center. The City Church Big Band presents an evening of traditional carols reinterpreted by an all-star lineup of some of the Bay Area’s finest musicians (12/19). The beloved Bay Area Queen of classic jazz and jump blues, Lavay Smith, brings a special holiday performance with her Red Hot Skillet Lickers, focused on the music of the great Duke Ellington (12/20). We also present three artists who gained fame as part of the legendary Windham Hill new age label, including singer and multi-instrumentalist Barbara Higbie, keyboardist Liz Story and Celtic harpist Lisa Lynne (12/22).
