SEE: Beautiful Relationships: Flora and Fauna from Around the World

WHAT: The Helen Crocker Russell Library of Horticulture at San Francisco Botanical Garden presents an exhibition of nature illustrations by Rachel Diaz–Bastin. Bastin works in the entomology department at the California Academy of Sciences where she is known for her beautifully accurate illustrations of insects. The colored pencil art in the exhibit focuses mainly on plants and animals of tropical and Mediterranean habitats worldwide.

HEAR: Trevor Paglen's "Sight Machine" in Collaboration with Kronos Quartet

WHAT: Genre-defying artist TrevorPaglen's large-scale performance piece, Sight Machine, is an exploration of the intersection of artificial intelligence technology and visual experience featuring live music performed by San Francisco's Grammy-winning Kronos Quartet.

DANCE: Afrolicious Soundsystem featuring DJs Ozgood and Pleasuremaker

WHAT: Groove is back in the Mission for one night at The Public Works Loft with the Afrolicious Soundsystem (DJs Pleasuremaker & Ozgood + live percussionist Diamond Vibes) and an opening set by Braza's DJ Antonio Guedes. No standing on the wall —this is for people who like to get down. Expect funk, disco, house blended with Caribbean, Brazilian and African beats.

CELEBRATE: Lunar New Year Lion Dancing

WHAT: Celebrate the Lunar New Year with a mini traveling festival of free lion dancing performances at several San Francisco Public Library branches. This weekend the dancing lions are headed to Bernal Heights.

WALK: January Sunrise Tour of Muir Woods

WHAT: Attend a sunrise guided tour through Muir Woods. Sunrise is a particularly beautiful time to visit the old-growth redwood forest and you'll learn about the local plant and animal residents which are more likely to be seen in the early morning. The three-mile stroll through Muir Woods (mostly flat, with a relatively steep section) is designed for adults. Dress warmly, ideally in layers. Wear sturdy shoes. Bring a water bottle. EAT: Magnolia Pub Hosts Sunday Dinner

WHAT: In the centuries-old tradition of the English pub, Magnolia Gastropub and Brewery will debut their take on the iconic Sunday Roast in a series of weekly Sunday Joint dinners starting January 15th. Each prix-fixe Sunday Joint dinner (always under $40 per person) will center around a cut or joint of meat, such as beef prime rib, pork loin or leg of lamb. Preceded by an appetizer, the joint will be accompanied by sides like Yorkshire pudding, roasted potatoes and other vegetables. The meal will end with a simple dessert, in keeping with pub fare, such as a seasonal trifle or sticky toffee pudding.

PROTEST: SF Writers Respond to Trump at Litquake's No Shadow Without Light

WHAT: In the wake of the election of Donald Trump, Litquake has put together an evening of Bay Area writers two days prior to his inauguration. The lineup includes two-time Pulitzer winning biographer TJ Stiles, renowned poet and author Ishmael Reed, SF Poet Laureates devorah major & Alejandro Murguía, novelist, screenwriter and philanthropist Robert Mailer Anderson and Arab-American author and poet Elmaz Abinader, among others.
