If you open the pages of any fashion magazine it’s a sure bet that the majority of the editorial spreads are devoted to European and American design houses. It’s a fact that in America fashion has become synonymous with New York, Paris and Milan but that might be about to change—at least here in the Bay Area. Thankfully here in SF there are a few specialty boutiques that carry a diverse array of designs from international, non-European clothing lines. One shop that’s helping to spark this globally-minded trend is Bettina Boutique in Pacific Heights, a fashion-forward store that’s currently hosting an event celebrating up-and-coming Asian fashion. The Asian Invasion event features the SF debut of four hard-to-find designers like the Bangkok-based fashionista fave Greyhound, Malaysian designer Victor Tran’s debut line Gallo, Kittikorn and Bangkok’s Ziroco, who’s already incited a cult following here in the Bay Area. Expand your fashion horizon at Bettina until Friday, February 29.
