Tell us we can help the children by indulging in the self-serving wonders of a new body soufflé or heart-shaped bath bomb, and we’re definitely listening. Add giving impressionable youths an ungeeky alternative to run-of-the-mill band camp, and we’re in. A chance to do both takes place Friday during a Girls Rock Benefit at Laline on Chestnut Street.
Half of the proceeds from sales during the fundraiser will benefit Bay Area Girls Rock Camp, an Oakland-based nonprofit offering volunteer-run summer and after school programs that teach girls to play instruments, form bands and write and sing their own songs. And to give you a front row view of the organization’s success turning little ladies into rockers, the young musicians behind the Girls Rock band The Bayonettes will perform while you shop.
For beauty junkies, it’s a for-a-good-cause reason to check out Laline, an Israel-based beauty brand that chose San Francisco for its U.S. debut last fall. Notably, it’s the first in-store event in the States for the company, which has more than 60 stores worldwide and quietly opened two stores in the City in 2010, one at Pier 39 and a second in December on Chestnut Street. The products incorporate Dead Sea salts and French essential oils and are known for their vintage-inspired packaging. Top sellers include body scrubs, bath bombs and whipped body soaps.
Ready to rock? Girls Rock Benefit on March 25, 6-8 p.m., at Laline, 2106 Chestnut St., SF.
