Bay Area institutions Blue Bottle Coffee and Tartine Bakery are joining forces on a new venture: Taking over Tokyo.
After the success of Blue Bottle's first Tokyo coffee house last week (people waited four hours for a cup of joe), founder James Freeman invited James Beard Award-winners Chad Robertson and wife Elisabeth Prueitt to the Japanese market. Tartine is set to bring their internationally-lived bread to the other side of the world. The 2,000 square foot space will host a Tartine bakery and Blue Bottle kiosk near the hustle and bustle of Daikanyama Station. The cafe is set to open this spring.
