Dan Aykroyd is going to be a the Jug Shop on Polk and Pacific today btw 4-6. Yes, that Dan Aykroyd. He's pimping his new line of wines and you can meet him in person this afternoon at the Jug Shop. If you like sipping the wine and hanging out with the celebs this is the event for you.
Here are the details from the press release:
Dan Aykroyd, the Emmy Award-winning actor, screenwriter, musician, inaugural cast member of SNL and the man behind the totally unforgettable Elwood Blues, is releasing his first California wine project, "Dan Aykroyd Discovery Series", into the US market this December. The Dan Aykroyd Discovery Series which includes a Sonoma County Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, is the culmination of a close partnership between Dan Aykroyd and DeLoach Vineyards in California’s Russian River Valley. The launch of Dan Aykroyd Discovery Series in San Francisco will mark the first international extension of Aykroyd’s successful line of Canadian wines.
The San Francisco launch event will take place here at
The Jug Shop from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Thursday, December 18th.
RSVP is not required, but space is limited and will fill quickly!
Dan will be signing bottles of his Discovery Series wines ($19.99 each), available for purchase exclusively at the Jug Shop throughout December. The first 100 people will also receive a commemorative poster.
As the focus of this evening is to celebrate the US launch of the Discovery Series wines with the bottle signing, we encourage avid wine drinkers to attend and be ready to channel their favorite Aykroyd personality at the event. Dan Aykroyd Discovery Series wines will be sold at the Jug Shop exclusively until early 2009.
Some housekeeping: As this Thursday is the busiest day of December for us, our parking lot will be reserved ONLY for regular shoppers that evening. As in the rest of northeast SF, street parking in the area can be extremely difficult. We strongly recommend you take another form of transportation to the event. (Catch the Katy, folks or support your local taxi driver!) Additionally, based on previous bottle-signing events featuring Dan's signature vodka and his Canadian wines, we expect there will be far, FAR more of you anxiously queued up to meet him than we'll be able to accommodate. We apologize in advance if you are turned away.
We especially request that while you are on line, you respect our neighbors by keeping clear of access to local businesses and residential driveways. The SFPD will be on patrol for us that evening to make sure all goes smoothly, so behave or you might end up at Joliet!
