When you think of carrots, rarely does high fashion come to mind. That was until the grand opening fete for the new swanky Jackson Square boutique Carrots—on Thursday, November 1—where high-end fashion and effortless glamour prevailed. At the well-attended opening party the SF social set mingled with sophisticated shoppers and local celebs like Amber Marie Bently and chef and restauranteur Scott Howard. Partygoers swilled specialty cocktails and bubbly courtesy of Dom Ruinart Champagne while checking out the wide selection of designs by well-known modern luxury brands like Alberta Ferretti and Peter Som as well as edgy offerings like Nigel Tercey Preston’s tailored Victorian-inspired blouses, It-girl favorite Rag and Bone denim and shirts by Band of Outsiders. Carrots, which features unique items for both men and women, is the inspired vision of sisters Catie and Melissa Grimm whose family own the number one producer of baby carrots in the U.S., hence the whimsical name. Decorative hints of the family business could be felt in the opulent luxury-meets-rustic farmhouse aesthetic of the spacious boutique and in the precious details like the sweet parting gift of spiced carrot cake cupcakes and the bathroom's baroque baby carrot wallpaper.
