2. The CSA
This Sunday, stop by Blue Bottle at 300 Webster Street in Oakland for the “Pork Prom”, hosted by Live Culture Co., Sonoma Direct and Blue Bottle Coffee. Not only can you have a cup of drip and some bacon, but you can order up your girlfriend some mighty fine, “lovingly raised” Mangalitsa, Ossabaw and Berkshires. Five pounds runs you $35. These days, it seems every self-respecting foodie longs to ditch her IT desk job to spend their day breaking down cows. For that special person, give them the gift of an Avedano’s “Butchery for Adults” class (we’re hoping there’s no “Butchery for Kids”). The class is held the third Sunday of every month, $300 a person gets you knowledge and at least $100 worth of meat.
