The Clift Hotel's downtown nighttime hangout the Redwood Room and their recently made over Velvet Room seem to be taking a cue from the Burritt Room by staging killer free shows to pair with their top-notch cocktails.

Collaborating with indie music tastemakers IAMSOUND Records, both lounges will host seriously-praised acts like tropicalia-pop collective Fool's Gold (we dare you to cut loose),  alt-folk crooner Cass McCombs and Le Tigre's JD Samson's dance band MEN to make this winter just a little more bearable. The first concert is this Saturday, the 15th, featuring Francis & the Lights.

To get through the door without spending a dime, you have to RSVP. These shows will likely fill up, but if you're without a reserved spot and there at the right time, they'll let you in if they're not at capacity. There's no word yet on whether they'll continue the concert series after this first slew of shows, but we're waiting with bated breath. Free stuff this good doesn't come along very often.
