If you happen to see Darth Vader wandering around the Moscone Center this weekend, closely followed by a hairy Chewbacca and a couple of Watchmen, it's not (just) because you're high. Rather, San Diego's revered Comic-Con festival will kick off its annual Northern California offshoot, WonderCon, Feb. 27 through March 1, bringing fanboys (and girls) from far and wide to San Francisco for a weekend.
Comic artists, writers and historians of all walks of life will be in attendance to answer questions via panels, presentations, and meet-and-greet sessions with fans. Additionally, WonderCon goers can see sneak peeks from upcoming comic-themed movies like Astroboy and Knowing, visit hundreds of vendors, and take advantage of an array of gaming and technology opportunities.
And once again, the festival will welcome a variety of Hollywood A-listers from funny boys like Will Arnett and Kenan Thompson to big-screen gal Virgina Madsen.
The weekend culminates with one dramatic Masquerade on Saturday night from 8:30 to 11:30pm, in which all attendees don their most festive (and often, geekiest) garb to compete for a number of awards and trophies.
Tickets for most events are still available via the WonderCon website or at the Moscone Center. Prices are $12 for Friday and Saturday exhibitions, $10 for Sunday.
