Condiments + Treats From SF Bay Area Chefs

By

Lucky for us, some of San Francisco’s best chefs have been busily packaging up hot sauces, spice rubs, dressings, and frozen treats.

From Thomas Keller’s Regiis Ova caviar to Kathy Fang’s chili condiments, these little touches will make your holiday season extra special—and they're available online and for local pickup.

Celebrity chef, Fang restaurant owner, and member of the House of Nanking dynasty, Kathy Fang has something spicy for your holiday kitchen. Her line of hot sauces, inspired by travels to the Chinese cities Xian and Guilin, are now available online. Pick up her Sichuan chili shallot oil, crunchy nutty chili garlic crisps, or chili black bean sauce to add a kick to dishes of any persuasion. // fangkitchen.com

David Nayfeld's Sauces + Salumi

Captain of the growing Che Fico empire, David Nayfeld wants to make sure your holiday pantry has plenty of Italian flair. Both online and in person at Che Fico Alimentari, you can stock up on jarred tomato sauces, Calabrian chili bomba, seasonal marmellata, and more. If you’re hosting a crowd this season, Neyfeld’s house-cured salumi will keep them busy while dinner’s in the oven. // 834 Divisadero (NoPa), cheficoalimentari.com

In the calm before the holiday storm, give yourself a break and let James Beard Award winner Brandon Jew (Mr. Jiu’s, Mamahuhu) take care of dinner. He’s got two styles of potstickers to take home: juicy pork and cabbage, and savory tofu and mushroom, both made with gluten-free rice and oat flour wrappers. Because they come frozen (and cook up in just eight minutes), they’ll be there for you whenever you need them. // Available online at eatmamahuhu.com

Just because Eater’s 2023 chef of the year Azalina Eusope is back on the scene with the delightful Malaysian restaurant Azalina’s—a restaurant both the SF Chronicle and The New York Times named one of the best places to eat in SF in 2023—doesn’t mean she’s abandoned her line of flavor-packed condiments. Take your pantry staples to the next level with her range of sweet, spicy, and savory sauces and spreads including pandan kaya, pineapple tea salad dressing, and multiple styles of sambal. They’re available for purchase online and in person at Rainbow Grocery, BiRite Markets, and Berkeley Bowl. // azalinas.myshopify.com

Napa Valley’s chef extraordinaire Thomas Keller has more than a few goodies to brighten up your holiday kitchen. At Finesse, Keller’s brick-and-mortar (and online) Yountville store, you’ll find handmade chocolates like the French Laundry–famous chocolate covered hazelnuts, caviar from Regiis Ova (the brand co-owned by Keller and the former CEO of Tsar Nicoulai), and barbecue spice rub from Ad Hoc. If your cookware needs an upgrade, check out the chef’s line of proprietary pots, pans, and knives. // 6540 Washington St. (Yountville), finessethestore.com

The Marlena and 7 Adams pastry chef’s ice cream line has added specialty flavors like roasted toasted marshmallow and chamomile frozen yogurt to complement the season, alongside signature favorites like sourdough toast + jam and 4x chocolate. Order them for delivery on Doordash or pick up a pint at one of three locations in SF. // scoopjackandremi.com
