If you’re anything like me, you look up from your desk after the fury of morning tasks only to realize it’s 2 pm and your stomach is eating itself. You need lunch, like, now.
One of our favorite food delivery services, Caviar, has been there to answer the call with delectable items from some of the city’s best restaurants, but with a 45 to 60 minute wait time, ill-planning types have sooner resorted to raiding the office stash of instant oatmeal and subsisting on stray desk drawer peanuts. Since Square purchased Caviar last year, however, a very smart person in charge has taken this dire situation to heart and, as of this morning, launched Caviar Fastbite: a selection of dishes for which they can guarantee delivery in as little as 10 minutes. Before you lose your mind from overwhelming joy, note that it’s only available on their iOS app, and they’re only able to serve downtown SF, but plans are to expand. That said, if you and your iPhone live or work in the FiDi or SoMa, you’re chowing down on meals from Little Delhi, Il Cane Rosso, Kisu, and more (think herb-rubbed rotisserie chicken with polenta and a side of olive oil braised greens, or a ten piece personal sashimi platter), in no time. With prices starting at just $8, it’s likely more affordable than taking the time to step outside, which is both unfortunate and genius.
Download the app here and get delivery on weekdays for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and dinner from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
