Arts & Beats is happening again at Terra Gallery. That means 12 hours of music at the hands of eleven DJs, plus a two-floor exhibit featuring over 50 Bay Area artists in various mediums. The all-day, all-night party also celebrates the return of MURK, two Miami-based DJs who haven’t played together in SF for over eight years. These legendary producers blend percussion, melodies and deep bass lines only Miami could have influenced.
Two of my local favorites are playing alongside them that evening as well, Adnan and dAvi. When Adnan isn’t running Forward SF, he gets busy in the studio. He recently dropped some original and remixed tracks, so get ready to dance to those. His production and parties have grown to be a staple on the scene here in San Francisco for the last decade. dAvi has been making a name for himself over the last couple years, thanks to gigs at the former Triple Crown, 222 Hyde and a podcast for Om Records. The SHOW must go on folks and Daniel Bell will be headlining it at The End Up on March 17th. Bell began producing and DJing in 1990 after spending years in bands. His growth as a DJ took off when he moved to Detroit and released a plethora of underground hits on Accelerate and 7th City that landed him gigs all over the world. With more than two decades of driving tech-house at his fingertips, Bell’s finesse is not to be missed. Kicking off the night will be Ben Seagren and Dean Samaras, followed by the San Francisco duo to watch out for, Bells & Whistles. I have no doubt that Rich Korach will also deliver the groove, wrapping the dance floor up just right. March 17th, 401 6th Street, $10.
If you haven’t seen Lee Burridge play a party you’ve been missing out. There, we said it. Burridge has played all over this planet since the late 80s, from holding residencies in Hong Kong, to helping bring the rave to the Gulf of Thailand and playing sunrise sets at Burning Man and beyond. His 10-hour sets will wear you out, but only after taking you to new heights with floating melodies, post-tribal drumming and a fusion of tech-house and minimal. Hailing from the UK, Burridge has been a huge influence on the EDM scene and will be at Public Works on March 17th. Opening for Burridge will be the energetic Atish and tech-tac-toe’s Bo. The fourth floor's covered rooftop of the W Hotel will be transformed when As You Like It takes over, unleashing live tigers! That’s right you hipster breaksters, Jeremy Bispo has rounded up the mysterious DJ duo Tiger & Woods, Visionquest’s Laura Jones and hometown heroes on the decks, Rich Korach, Brian Bejarano, Nolan and William Wardlaw. Eight hours of music await anyone ascending to As You Like It in the Clouds.
