"I went to the Epic Roasthouse to eat deliberately. I wanted to dine deep and suck the marrow out of bones … " That's H. D. Thoreau, or something very similar, anyway, to the way he opened Walden. I can say this, though, the roasted marrow bones at Epic (above), served with tomato jam and garlic toast, are delicious. I've been into marrow since I was 10 and first read Ian Fleming's Moonraker, in which there's a great dining scene involving marrow. Elsewhere in the city, you can usually find them at Coco500 and always at Bix. You might ask Epic's wonderful sommelier, Nicole Burke, what to drink with them, but my recommendation--going all the way back to Fleming--is and always will be Champagne.
