Fashionable Pursuits: What to Do this Weekend

By

Feeling the weekend wanderlust? We know we are. Here are three fashionable pursuits to enhance the days ahead:

Give and get: With all proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society, the Power of Pink fashion fundraiser at Studio 333 promises to be well worth the trek across the Golden Gate into Sausalito tonight. Breast cancer survivors and those affected by the disease will be among the models in the evening’s fashion show, featuring apparel by Taxi CDC and organic clothing from Tela D boutique, among others. Before and after the show, the main sale event entices with offerings from such Bay Area labels as Bryna Nicole, Juleselin, Frolick Jewelry, Harlequin Feltworks and Verrieres & Sako. General admission is $25, and VIP tickets are $35.

Tip your hat: Bring your creative streak to Friday Nights at the de Young this week, when December’s resident artist Corinne Okada Takara helps patrons construct silk and paper top hats inspired by the Yves Saint Laurent exhibit, currently on view through April 5. Known for her vibrant tapestries and playful fashion-inspired sculptures, Takara uses scrap materials ranging from food wrappers to produce netting to build intricately detailed sculptural objects, wall hangings and wearable art.

Sale away:
If you thought the sales were over, think again. Pop by RAG in Hayes Valley for 25 to 50 percent off such Bay Area designers as Icon National, Porcelynne and Fiftyseven-Thirtythree. Head to Harputs Market for 50 to 60 percent off merch from Ann Sofie Black, Fremont and Tinc, among others. While you’re there, get in on the shop’s very first sample sale featuring its in-house label Harputs Own. Sift through men’s button-front shirts at up to 75 percent off, $39 pants and sample fabrics in the Upper Haight at Kweejibo before the store closes for good at the end of the month. Drop by the San Francisco or Marin locations of Nicolette for 70 percent off winter coats, 60 percent off all shoes and handbags and $45 Majestic cotton-cashmere t-shirts through the end of January. Last but not least, if you find yourself in Union Square, duck into Saks Fifth Avenue to take advantage of the consolidation sale. As of today, the department store’s men’s and women’s sale items will be marked down another 50 percent for an overall discount of up to 80 percent off retail.
