It’s true, there are even more new brunch spots in the city! Here are five more places now serving SF's favorite meal, from midweek brunch action to a biscuit brunch.
Sunday live jazz brunch, in an elegant downtown setting? Where do I sign up? While you can go the classic route on the menu with waffles or a crab cake Benedict, you’ll want to consider trying the Indian items to see where chef Srijith Gopinathan really shines, like the appam, a fermented-rice crêpe with eggs, Dungeness crab, and curry sauce, or the Liberty duck samosas. There’s also a top-notch selection of bubblies to choose from. Sun 11:30 a.m.– 2:30 p.m., with the George Lacson Trio kicking in at noon. Jazzy! 340 Stockton St.
This Dogpatch restaurant is custom-made for brunch: there’s plenty of sun, outdoor tables, and an airy NorCal-chic style inside. Oh yeah, and great espresso too. Start with zeppole with vanilla bean crema and Meyer lemon curd before making your way to seasonal salads, or a baked egg with polpette, broccoli di ciccio, spring onions, and crushed tomatoes. Of course their thin-crust pizzas are available, and brunch is a perfect time to add an egg on top. Brunch hours begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. 1001 Minnesota St.
Rice Paper Scissors at Brick & Mortar Music Hall
Have you ever had a mapo scramble? That would bescrambled eggs with ground pork and tofu in a spicy Szechuan peppercorn sauce, served with buttered toast. You’ll find that bad boy and other dishes at the new RPS weekend brunch, keeping good company with some dim sum dishes (daikon cakes, beef pho rolls), fried egg banh mi and (of course) beef pho. Because sometimes what you really need to feel alive is pho – and that sriracha Bloody Mary should help you feel better too. Saturday and Sunday, 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. Cash only! 1710 Mission St.
The next time you’re playing midweek hooky, or maybe you really need a fried egg sandwich for lunch (and why not?), you’ll want to keep this little piece of info in your back pocket: Slow Club is now serving dishes from their weekend brunch menu during the week as well. Hours are Monday-Friday 11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday 10:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Bourbon French toast on a Wednesday? Yes! 2501 Mariposa St.
Sunnyside Biscuitsat Firehouse 8
Biscuit lovers (you know who you are) won’t want to miss this very biscuit-y pop-up brunch on Sunday May 4. There will be all kinds of biscuit madness, like a sweet potato biscuit with butter and blood orange marmalade, a cheddar biscuit with bacon and a fried egg, and briscuits ‘n’ gravy (that would be brisket with creamy gravy on a cheddar biscuit). You can also order mimosas or a Bellini at the wine bar inside. 11:00 a.m.– 3:00 p.m. 1648 Pacific Ave.
